While we like to treat every child as conservatively as possible, and we strive to give every tooth a fair chance, extractions are sometimes indicated when a tooth is too decayed to be restored, is severely damaged from trauma, or has caused an infection that poses a risk to a child’s overall health. Other times, removing an otherwise healthy tooth could benefit our young patients in the case of overcrowding or over-retention.
